Alex opened his eyes. The room was pitch black for a moment, then a white light appeared in front of him, followed by another. After several more hexagonal shapes appeared, he began to hear a voice.

"You might ask yourself why you're here, what went wrong, who are you. Well, I'll tell you one thing. You made a mistake, and now you have to pay for it. Even if you're innocent at the moment, the lone fact that you're human, is reason for us to make you, and your eternal soul suffer." There was a pause and Alex began to realize what the words meant.

"You can take the guns, not that it will help you, but, we just want some entertainment." The hexagonal lights moved together to the center of the room and a the mocking halfquake logo appeared within them.

Alex found himself in a room filled with letters. A small page, obviously someone's diary, lay on the floor in front of them. Alex picked it up and began to read it. At the top was the name; Tom Graithase.

"first day.

I can't remember anything. It's just like in a cheap movie and i've never thought this could really happen, especially to me.
But here I am, and I don't know where 'Here' is. All that I've already noticed is that in this... world, light doesn't (or can't) exist.

The only things that remind me of my past life, my job, my family, and my recent plans for vacation, are my clothes (I can't see, but feel them) and my ticking watch, equipped with a dim blue light. This is my 'candlelight', which lets me write down my feelings...

At least I know the time, but not the date, and I even can't say if it's forenoon or afternoon. Sooner or later the battery will run out. I can't imagine what I'll do then-and actually I don't want to think about it.

For now."

Alex put the page back on the floor and turned to the letters. He could see the halfquake logo somewhere, probably the central point of the room. He looked around on the floor for possible words. He picked up a stone and threw it onto the field. Instantly he heard the sound of gases and a field came up between him and the letters. About ten seconds later the floor collapsed. After a minute, it was back and he was able to proceed. He made out the word Sadism which would involve him jumping around a bit. Cautiously he stepped onto the first S.

Alex jumped onto the logo and turned round. The letters behind him lined up and the floor collapsed around them. Then the letters went dark and the Alex rose into another room.

"Ah, Mr. Victim I suppose. Well, here's a little help from your friends." A TV screen showed a picture of one of the people who Alex had seen in the offices. "As you may have already noticed, this part of your punishment is called Pestilence. Soon, after a few additional parts, you will come to a part called Patience."

"Patience is called patience because, and now listen carefully, as I said, patience is called patience because you need about twenty minutes of patience." Alex concentrated on the floor for a few minutes while the man continued to speak. The floor was black and white and done in an artistic effect which hurt his eyes at first. The man finished speaking and the TV exploded. A gap was revealed behind it. Alex walked in and fell down a hole in the floor into another room. A message was painted onto the wall; Does Life Make Sense? The options were yes or no. Alex, being an optimist, pressed yes. A door opened behind him and he went through it. 'Really?' He pressed yes again. 'absolutely sure?'

Alex walked into the last room. 'You are such an optimist'. Alex pressed the only button there, Okay, and felt the floor give way beneath him. He fell into some boiling chemical which also disappeared after a second. A creature stood in the room he fell into. He ran for it down a corridor and heard an explosion behind him. He ran into a portal in the wall at the end of the corridor.

He was in a another black and white room. There were three cubicles. Two at one and on the room, and one at the other. 'Life', 'death', and 'exit'. He walked into the one marked 'life' and pressed the button. Instantly he felt the scratches and burns on his skin heal. He then went into the exit.
