"I went into the room, and XXXXXXX motioned for me to sit down. It started like usual, and then he asked me if anything new had happened since we ' d last met."
"Does XXXXXXX regularly ask you that?"
"Yes, so I suppose that it really broke from the routine when I said that something had. I said that I had had a strange dream."
"So you do not have strange dreams often? This was something new between you two?"
"Well, yes. My dreams are all perfectly normal. Except for that one. Then I proceeded to describe my dream to him, and he listened. I related from my dream that I would be performing some act about my house, when a horrible doll, festooned in blood, would rise from behind me and look at me."
"Would it do anything else?"
"That ' s just it, it was waiting for me, waiting for me to respond to it ' s presence. It knows what ' s happening next, but I don ' t. Well, didn ' t."
"Continue."
"I hesitantly finished my narration, and he stood up suddenly and I did also."
"XXXXXXX stood up first, then you did?"
"I think so, I could be- yes, he did stand first. And he looked at me, behind me, and I could tell that the figurine was behind me, and that the waiting was done. I shot it. I shot the doll, and frankly, I think it must legally belong to me, so I can ' t imagine what all this is about."
"XXXXXX, you said that this dream was strange. What would you say made it strange?"
"I knew it would lead me here." |
