| "...since we moved here, Bill?". The corpulent worn out man lookes over the rails into the black and red skies. "I don't know. I have been looking into these dark skies since I am thinking... I suppose." "You think therefore you are...", Jone tried to smile, "No SoMa can bring us tough guy's down, right?". Bill laughed roughly. "Yeah, we are two, I tell ya, never take wooden nickels". Both laughed but it ended anyway... Silence was between them now. Like, something was hanging in the air, just right between them, trapped, screaming deaf for release. "How is Avelyn doing, Joe?". Jones scared up... looking amazed into the sky. Zoned out. "Joe, everything o'right?", Bill hustled Joe a bit, who scared up once again. "Yes, everything... Bill, see it's just like...". Joe stuttered... unable to speak it out. "I shouldn't have asked that question...". "N'no Bill, it's a'alr...". "Shut up, I wasn't finished! What I wanted to say... I mean the answer is so obvious, that it's ... almost... inane. It just destroyed your mood.". With his eyes wide open, he turned around... staring along the tedious path. "I guess... I l'lea'ave now, looking af'fter Av'v", he wasn't able to finish the sentence. Stiff and tensed as a poker he walked away into the night... After Jones had vanished into the dark Bill moved around bending over the rail, down into the night of the cliff. "Dang, why wasn't I able to keep my damn mouth shut?", he whispered... actually to himself, "Gonna follow him... to ensure he doesn't reach home in a body bag." |
