No longer boiling all the time that I am in my room...
swapped rooms with one of my housemates, since she always sleeps in the downstairs bedroom with her boyfriend, she didn't have a problem with me moving in here and storing her stuff in the other room.
This room has three windows, facing outwards from the hill.. so the breeze coming in between the hills more or less hits this room directly, cooling things down. Usual thing is keep one or both of the smaller windows open... and if it gets too warm, just open the main window. Things cool down fast.
As well as that, this room isn't simply square... if I have the door open it doesn't flood the room with light from the hall. Another advantage is when I come out of my room.. if I am feeling photosensitive (as often happens when I wake up or if I am tired or ill) the switch for the hallway light is right outside my door.
The view from the window is nice too, instead of looking out the window and seeing damaged concrete steps leading up to the gate which we barricaded with bricks to prevent idiots from coming in, I look out and see the opposite hill... by day, a mass of green, by night, a dark shadow looming a mile away. Nice place to go at night, the common. Maybe I should go back up there again sometime.
the floor is a bit more comfortable too... the floorboards are not all uneven like in the other room... I could play DDR in here without shaking the house, and I could sleep on it without waking up feeling like I've just landed after a nice fall in a rather nasty position.
Only problem is that because of the size of the windows I'll need to get some better curtains, the current ones fail to cover the whole windows. I like my privacy...
tomorrow: go to manpower again for more jobsearching, I must find a job VERY soon if I want to be able to buy art and stuff at Eurofurence... I also need to sort out this roomshare.. currently it is me, two housemates, and a fox... a tiger may be joining us, but I can't seem to contact him to get him to join... as I recall, Cerberus was a possibility too... but he never speaks to me so I don't know. Grrrr.. and arranging attendance for a convention was supposed to be easier this time!
Still.. at least this year I don't have to put up with our transport backing out on us a week before travelling... |
