Madness/Depression/Rebellion/Retribution/Ascension

Down long, winding corridors, past open doors and empty gurneys comes laughter.

It's dark at the hospital at night, the rooms unexplored for eons, the echo of silence reverberates oppressively. Noises of past worlds, past lives and death are here forever, and never will they escape from these walls.

There was suffering here. Great suffering, great pain and torment. The walls scream from anguish and hatred, and the air reeks of stale blood, and the boiling cauterisation of the wound. A cacophony of silence punctured only by a steady drip of stagnant water onto the coat of a man, who lies motionless at the seat of the fountain.

What am I doing here? Dull pain afflicts me and whilst I walk through the rubble I feel the voices, crying for redemption, for another chance. I clutch my side. Bleeding. But I move on. Stumbling. Every step sends the clenching fist further through my side, as if my lungs grab my ribs and shake at the cages of the cask that is my wounded body.

And suddenly I laugh. Tears in my eyes and I laugh. I see the pain as red as the blood which oozes steadily from the wound, and I giggle helplessly. For a moment-

I stop to catch my breath and the walls move away, studying apprehensively their prey.

I must be mad, or is the world just manic? The laughter is all around me now, and all I feel is bitter hatred. I stare at them, mocking me. They know I hurt, they know my pain, yet they laugh.
Why do they laugh.
WHY DO YOU LAUGH.

It does not matter. I laugh last.

I walk through the long, winding corridors, past open doors and empty gurneys. I hear myself laughing, echoed from before, enshrined forever in the bloodsoaked walls and lifeless rooms.
