Mata Hari's trial is now widely known as a sham and was staged as an 'ass covering' story for the French generalship's incompetence. Although not the beauty legend has painted her, the firing squad refused to shoot her in the breast or pelvis, pelting her in the thighs and neck instead. What were they saving her for?
