I slowly forced myself up off the floor, using the wall to help steady myself. Everything in my body ached, but I didn't pay much attention to that. I was way more concerned with the beast that stood directly in front of me. There was no way in hell that thing could possibly be real, it had a single eye on it's head, with a very hunched over posture. It had small stubby hands with what almost appeared to be shackles over its arms. What amazed me was that these were a green colour. Finally! Something other then black white or grey. The legs of the creature also had these green shackles, but I noted that it seemed to have hind legs much akin to that of a dog. It stood there emitting really weird gargling noises. I stood there in thought… maybe it was like me? It looked like a slave; it could be trapped here too… I pulled myself together and decided to make the first move. I called out to it.
"Hello? Umm, do you understand English?"
I felt a bit foolish, but it was worth a shot. It seemed to notice me for the first time, and came running towards where I was. I wasn't sure what to do… I had no idea if it was friendly or not. I soon found out the answer. I watched in amazement as the green wristbands started to spark. The creature started to make more erratic noises, as the sparks grew bigger. Green bolts started to leap towards the shackles on its arms, this did not look good… I pawed vainly on the ground for anything I could use against it, of course I found nothing. I watched with growing fear as the sparks started to change into green blots, starting to create large crackling noises. I edged my way across the wall hoping to escape, but to no avail. It flung its arms out at me, suddenly sending a surge of green electricity at me. I cried out in pain, it felt like my whole body was on fire! I collapsed onto the ground, still convulsing from the after effects of the electricity.
Meekly I peered up from the floor. It was now starting to summon up more electricity. I knew that I wouldn't be able to survive another blast of electricity. I had to get up, a mix of fear and adrenalin urged my body through the pain I was suffering. I staggered to my feet. There was only one thing to do, I flung my body at the creature, I didn't know how strong it was, or if touching it would electrocute me further, but right at that moment, I didn't care, I just wanted to cause it as much pain to it as it had caused me. I did a running leap at the monster, but I wasn't expecting it to doge, I let out a startled cry and went sprawling along the ground. I skidded across the floor desperately trying to stop myself. I started to gather speed and I realised why, the whole room was titling to the side. My left arm was badly burnt from the electric bolt, and the burnt flesh on my arm was now scraping against the open ground. Blinded by pain I could barley brace myself for the coming impact with the wall. I raised my arms and prepared to collide, but the blow didn't come, the wall had crumbled and now I was free falling towards a large spinning shape. It was made up of something like a C and a triangle with the end removed, creating a pointy tip. It looked almost like the smiley faces commonly used on the Internet…
My admiration of this "decoration" didn't last long. I continued on my plummet towards the ground, screaming the whole way down. Again I braced for the impact. My legs buckled under a sudden force on them; my body. I stumbled sideways but managed to catch myself before I fell over. What the hell just happened? I took a look around, it appears I was somehow transported to a room with walls made of black boxes surrounded by white for wallpaper. The only other remarkable features were three boxes; two of which were standing next to each other, whilst one stood off by itself. I took a glance at my left arm; it was secreting a white liquid from blackened skin. I concluded that the liquid was obviously blood, and I was losing quite a lot of it. I could no longer move it, but fortunately by some good grace I couldn't feel much of the pain. I assumed the nerve endings had been severed or something. Well at least I wouldn't have to die in agony…
I took another look around the room, "Well" I thought to myself "You might as well look at those boxes, it's not like you have anything else to do."
I stumbled my way towards the two boxes. I prepared myself for something to leap out and brutally dismember my corpse, but of course nothing in this stupid universe goes the way I think it will. All that faced me were two buttons inside the boxes, featuring the same "evil smiley face" as before. The only clue to what their functions were the rather blunt messages written on the top of each box. Life and Death. Okay… I'll take a stab at what the death box does… kill you? (Ding ding ding, I've won the grand prize!!! What do you have for our guest bob? … Needless to say, my internal sarcasm was going off the charts.) But life… that can't do what I think it does, can it? Well, what did I have to lose? I stepped into the box and pressed the button.
I screamed in agony, my left arm was on fire, I held it up to my face. The burns, they were disappearing! The rest of my body convulsed in pain as bones that were jarred now snapped back into place. I collapsed onto the side of the box in exhaustion. I took in a deep breath and examined my body. There was nothing… No bruises, no scars, no burns. It was like they hit the rewind button on my body, I went through the pain and everything but, look at me now, I stand a chance of surviving again. Hell I wasn't even hungry anymore! I stepped out of the box with renewed vigour. But something crept back into my mind. "You realize they only did this to prolong your suffering."
I glanced back at the Death box. "No." I told myself. "They are giving me a chance to get out. There must be a way out of here. There has to be. It's like an extreme game show or something."
The morbid thought did not go away. I decided to try and get my mind off that particular idea, by investigating the third box in the room. Again just as the others this was marked with a rather blunt statement. Exit. Well no prize for guessing what that does. I sighed; well I'm not going anywhere here. I took a deep breath and stepped through the box. Well… there was nothing. I looked back; okay maybe there was something. The scene behind me had now changed. It appeared I was in some sort of train station. It was made up of a stark contrast of brilliant whites outlining pitch black. I took a look around. It was like an ordinary train station. Well except for the fact it was black and white, but other then that, it seemed normal. On the tracks was a small white cart. I looked around for any sign of a train. Well perhaps I was supposed to get onto the cart. I walked over. I had to make a small jump to get onto it. No problem.
I leapt over to it. Now to get this thing moving. I searched around the cart for any sort of switch I could press to get it moving. With a sudden burst of speed the cart started on its way. Unprepared for this, I fell towards the back of the cart, catching myself just before I fell of the edge. I pushed myself back onto my feet. I could tell I was going extremely fast by the way the wind was whipping into my face. It was now pitch black except for the cart that I stood on. I readied myself for anything that may happen. I stood there for about five minutes before I saw anything. There was white shape off in the distance, and it was getting closer fast. I stood ready to face what it was.
It was still to small to see, wait… I can sort of make out some details, it looked kind of like… a hand… no it was a cube with a picture of hands on it. It was being held up by something. Then I realized what it was. It was the same device used to kill that poor guy on the television! What the hell was I supposed to do? I had around 10 seconds max before I reached it, I looked around desperately. Wait! There was something coming up behind me with enormous speed. I didn't have time to hesitate, I leapt at the object. With a massive slam the hammer came down on the cart. I breathed a sigh of relief. I had survived… for now.
I suddenly realized I was now in an enclosed cart. It had a seat (with no sitting labelled on it), a small window in the front, a speaker and a crossbow. A crossbow? I laughed with maniacal glee. Finally something to defend myself with! I grabbed it of the rail. I put the strap around my body so I wouldn't drop it. I couldn't help but practice aiming with it. I spun around holding it up to my eye. I soon whished I hadn't. The rear of the train had opened, revealing another white cart carrying three of the same monster that had assaulted me earlier. They had already begun charging up their lightning attacks. Without hesitation I started to fire back. The first shot hit its mark, whilst the second missed the next target majorly. I let out a curse and aimed again, I only had a few seconds before they would be able to hit me. I shot, again missing the target, without hesitation I shot once more, hitting the monster I was aiming for, I quickly aimed to the right for the last one, it began to reach out it's hands, I squeezed the trigger, the bolts leapt out, I shielded myself. With a sickening thwack, the arrow hit its mark. I let out a sigh of relief. I slung the crossbow back over my shoulder. I wasn't half bad with this thing. The rear of the train started to close. A loud screech filled the compartment. The breaks! We were stopping. I was thrust to the front of the train, snapping the crossbow under my weight. I picked up the broken remains. I was defenceless again. I let out a sniffle of pain. Just when I thought I was going to be safe… "The sadism express has now reached its destination. May all victims exit the train" The PA interrupted my train of thought, startled I listened further "We here at the Sadism Express crew have hoped that we made your journey as unsafe, unreliable and uncomfortable as possible."
I waited for further messages. I got one. "What are you waiting for? Get off. NOW!"
Suddenly by some invisible force, I was thrust out of the train. I watched from the ground as it speed of into the distance, leaving me a broken crossbow and a scarily familiar buzzing noise behind.
