The rain was not going to freeze, but it bit. It was at a time of the year so that everyone below greeted the outpouting as a herald of winter. Someone is walking along the sidewalk. That would be me. I ' m thinking to myself, as my head gets heavier. I ' m wondering if I said ''Tell me this isn ' t happening.'' and, if from somewhere came ''it isn 't''. What could I say to that? "Good."? I keep thinking there might be some better thing to say, but i can ' t think of anything

perhaps I would whisper "Tell me now that i am relaxed and happy and safe." and maybe I would be too quiet for ther person opposite me to hear. They would say "you are."

The cop car, on a specific errand, stops next to me, then slides from there distractedly into my slow pace. Shouldn ' t have taken my favorite jacket, should have started out sooner. |
